Spotting Thread - Troubleshooting
Photos larger than 5mb
If you're having receiving this error when trying to upload photos to the Spotting Thread, the reason is likely that your photo is larger in file size than the limit of 5mb. Fortunately, there's an easy solution. We suggest you follow the steps below for an easy workaround.
1. Download a photo-editing app on your smartphone - we use VSCO cam.
2. Import the photo(s) you wish to upload to the Spotting Thread.
3. Hit the export button > Save to Camera Roll > Large. This should reduce the file size to below 2mb whilst retaining the quality of the photo.
4. Upload the new exported photo(s) to the Spotting Thread - it should work without a hitch, however if you're still experiencing difficulties, don't hesitate to contact us!
Portrait photos uploading sideways
This is an annoying one. It's to do with the EXIF data which is embedded in your photo. Despite your phone displaying the photo correctly, the EXIF data which tells your phone that the photo was taken in portrait is not uploaded to our thread with the photo. Thus, the photo often displays landscape.
This really is a glitch on our end, and we're working on a fix, however in the meantime we suggest following the steps above. Exporting a photo with an editing app means that the photo will display correctly, with or without EXIF data. Sorry if we got a bit technical there... |
