2016 saw a record attendance at the annual Ferrari Concours d'Elegance at Como Park North in South Yarra this past Sunday, February 28th.
It was a killer turnout with some 150 Ferraris on show, with a good array of classic and modern offerings. Highlights included a debut appearance of the legendary Enzo, as well as many of the usual suspects - an F40, a 365 GTB/4 Daytona (plus a "Competizione" version), a 275 GTB (pictured above), plus many many more to ogle at.

The modern lineup was in full attendance (with the exception of the FF), and it was great to see a few 488 GTBs representing the latest of what Maranello has to offer in the way of modern V8s, giving onlookers (onhearers) a good opportunity to listen to the future sound of Ferraris. The 488 of course marks the first time a turbocharger has been used in the modern mid-engined V8 platform.

A 365 GTB/4 Daytona "Competizione" was a hot topic of conversation on the day. Only fifteen Series I and II Competizione Daytonas were built by the factory between 1971-73, this being a '73 Series II model, of which only six were constructed! It was delivered new in Australia in 1973 before spending most of its life abroad. It made a name for itself in the European race scene taking podium finishes in several races including Coupe de Alpes and Grand Prix de l’Age d’Or. Needless to say it's fantastic to have it back in Australia, Melbourne no less. The accompanying image gives an indication of just how much attention it drew.
We're lucky to have some very uniquely specified 458 Speciale Apertas in Melbourne, including the two below which participated in this year's concourse. The owner of the Rosso Corsa Aperta with the carbon fibre side sills usually brings a 599 GTO, but for the past two years he's driven the Speciale A instead. Unfortunately, there were no 599 GTOs present at this year's concours.
It's always a pleasure to see (and perhaps more importantly, hear) a 430 Scuderia - two turned up on Sunday, both also quite uniquely optioned. The Rosso Mugello example turned heads upon arrival - the downshifts were to die for, and the Grigio GTO wheels set it off. It parked tail-tail with its previous owner's Giallo 458 Speciale. It was great to see the two together for a comparison.
All in all, another very successful Concours held by FCA and Zagame. Next year's promises to be huge, and we can't wait to see what will be in store!
