In an effort to introduce order to their rapidly expanding lineup, McLaren has devised three distinct segments for their models:

The Sports Series: The entry level series with a power range from 397kW to 420kw.
          - 540C, 570S
The Super Series: High-end supercars with power outputs ranging between 478kW and 496kW.
          - 650S, 650S Spider, 675LT
The Ultimate Series: Reserved for their flagship hypercar, the P1, rated at 673kW.
          - P1, P1 GTR

McLaren's latest two offerings, the 540C and 570S, serve as the inaugural members to the Sports Series and will be the marque's most affordable models yet with starting prices of $350,000 and $408,000 respectively .

The 570S was recently unveiled to local press and prospective buyers at McLaren's Melbourne showroom in Southbank.

Like its bigger siblings, the 570S features butterfly doors, a welcome addition to what many consider to be a 'budget supercar'.

Its styling is fluid and curvaceous and comes together nicely in what really is quite a compact car.
The headlight design references McLaren's 'speed tick' logo and have filtered down from the P1.

Power comes from yet another iteration of McLaren's 3.8L twin-turbocharged V8 found in the entire range, including the P1. In the 570S, it's tuned to 420kW of power and 600Nm of torque.

The interior has ample room and I, at 6'1, fold into the cabin comfortably with space to spare. Once seated, it's obvious that McLaren has taken a very minimalistic approach to the interior of the 570S. In honesty it initially felt underwhelming, but a few minutes pass and you begin to develop an immense sense of precision.

McLaren has cleverly done away with excessive trinkets, nick-nacks, and knobs leaving only the bare essentials behind.  Developing a focused driver environment has been one of the company's strongpoints dating back to the F1 with its central driver's seat.

Front and centre sits a large, portrait display running an Adroid operating system. Below it, the driver controls (start button, traction control, manual gear shift, etc.) The instrument cluster is all digital and customisable keeping all important information within the driver's line of sight. Overall, the interior feels luxurious with high quality finishes and dials. McLaren has hinted at an LT version of the 570 which would feature a stripped-down interior and higher-tuned engine.

The 570S will be on sale by the second-quarter of 2016 with the 540C following shortly after.
