A look back on what was undoubtedly the most eventful year on MCS! Melbourne really turned it up in 2015. Read on to see which spots were the most engaging of the year, counting down to number 1.

Melbourne's gorgeous Lava Orange Porsche 911 GT3 RS on King Street. Thanks for the spot, @dylanrose.1!

TEN.

To kick it off at number 10, we have the much anticipated new Porsche 911 GT3 RS spotted on King Street in the CBD. Finished in Lava Orange, this was the first one to reach Melbourne. To date, only two have been delivered.
If you can look at this photo without drooling, you have very strong self control. We can't wait to see more of them in 2016!
Other spots:

An insane Lexus LFA in Docklands earlier this year. Production of the LFA was limited to just 500 units, each featuring a 4.8L V10 with a glorious note. Australian buyer’s parted with close to $1 million to get their hands on one. All up, at least four permanently reside in Melbourne. We were lucky to have another in town over the weekend having driven 2,000km from Surfers Paradise. And the car next to it, for those interested? A crazy rare Jaguar XJR-15, the world’s first fully carbon-fibre road car, one of only 53 produced. This particular one, chassis #34, has raced at Sandown and in New Zealand. They retailed at a ridiculous US$960k back in 1990! The XJR-15’s body was designed by Peter Stevens who then went on to design the McLaren F1. It has a mid-mounted 336kW naturally-aspirated V12. Some may remember it from the 1998 computer game, Need for Speed III: Hot Pursuit… Epic. Thanks for the excellent spot, @mitchgoring!

NINE.

There's something special about the Lexus LFA, but what makes post number 9 even more special is the hardly-visible Jaguar XJR-15 next to it!
Both cars are owned by avid car collector, Lindsay Fox.
Two other XJR-15s were imported to Melbourne in 2015 and restored, making it three in Australia! A very impressive number for such a rare car.
The LFA has an incredible Yamaha-developed 4.8L V10, and with so few in town, posting one is a rare moment to be savoured.
Other LFA spots:

A stunning photo of Melbourne's Bianco Isis Lamborghini Aventador LP750-4 SV in the CBD. This one is being driven and spotted frequently - keep and eye and ear out for it! Thanks for the excellent shot, @jazzabel!

EIGHT.

The Lamborghini Aventador was always a favourite among MCS-followers, so it was no surprise that the much-anticipated SV went off with a hit!
It was this time spotted on Flinders Street from Federation Square by Jasmine Abel. The photo remains the equal third most popular post on MCS.
Shoutout to the bloke trying to take a photo in the 86 next to it!
Other spots:

In keeping with the 80's supercar theme, here's a gorgeous Ferrari F40, also spotted out yesterday. The F40 debuted in 1987 with a top speed of 324km/h, slightly quicker than the Porsche 959. Would you have the F40 or the 959? Thanks for the photo, Chris!

SEVEN.

Everyone loves the F40, and this one proved favourable among MCS-followers. Number 7.
As I think most realise, MCS takes as much pride in its high standard of photo quality as it does photo content.
This photo is the best of both worlds. Few cars make better subject matter than the F40, and this photo captures it beautifully, the F40 somewhat juxtaposed in the heart of Toorak.
Other spots:

Melbourne was abuzz with Lamborghinis last night! These two Arancio Argos Aventadors were spotted in Chinatown. The registration of both refer to fighter jets, the F-22 Raptor and the F-35 Lightning II. Both influenced the styling of the LP700. Thanks for the incredible photo, @hjh.007!

SIX.

Sent in by a very lucky owner, number 6 shows two near-identical Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 Coupes on Little Bourke Street. Even their license plates share the same theme - jets upon which the Aventador's design was based.
It was a coincidental pair-up and made for the perfect photo opportunity. A very rare moment indeed. To date, it's drawn more likes than any other MCS post with a toal of 4,057! Just one other photo has cracked the 4k milestone at 4,001.
Can you believe that out of the top 50 most-liked photos on MCS, 39 (almost 80%) of them are Lamborghinis, 27 of which being Aventadors! By comparison, just six are Ferraris...

An unbelievable spot to celebrate 40k followers! This Porsche Carrera GT was spotted on High Street, Northcote today! It landed in Melbourne during the week and it’s an absolute pleasure to see it on public roads already, despite being left-hand drive (and therefore not able to be registered locally). The owner purchased it from McLaren Beverly Hills and it arrived at Melbourne Airport from LAX about midweek. Introduced in 2004, they feature a 5.7L V10 rated at 450kW. Just 1,270 were produced. This joins three other LHD ‘hypercars' to have been spotted and featured on MCS this year - the Bugatti Veyron, the Ferrari LaFerrari, and the Porsche 918 Spyder (successor to the Carrera GT). Who knows what’s next! Thanks to all for helping MCS reach the 40k mark! It’s great to see the passion for cars grow in Melbourne. A huge thanks to @tim__b for the spot!

FIVE.

Number 5 came out of nowhere! The magnificent Porsche Carrera GT was spotted on High Street, Northcote.
It had been purchased from McLaren in Beverly Hills. It is therefore US spec, hence the indicator lenses on the quarter panels.
The owner has quite an impressive collection, and reportedly has a LaFerrari on his wish-list.
Later in the year, another CGT arrived, also in silver. It was imported from Europe.
Other spots:

Who could have guessed that in the month of March alone, Melbourne would witness three state of the art hypercars roaming its streets!? First, a Bugatti Veyron, then a Porsche 918 Spyder, and now this! Exclusive footage of a phenomenal Ferrari LaFerrari leaving the showroom on Swan Street in Richmond yesterday! It, like the others, is left-hand drive so we are extremely lucky to see it on public roads! It's now at the Melbourne Showgrounds ahead of this weekend's Australian Motoring Festival where it will be displayed.

FOUR.

It was a huge surprise to have a Ferrari LaFerrari spotted driving on public roads, if for only a hundred metres! This LaFerrari, making it in at number 4, was in town for the 2015 Australian Grand Prix. It otherwise lives in New Zealand where it can legally be driven.
On March 24th, it was spotted leaving the showroom on Swan Street and driving around the corner to be loaded onto a truck. Its next destination was the Australian Motoring Festival at the Melbourne Showgrounds where it was displayed alongside an Enzo, F50, F40 and a 288 GTO.
Believe it or not, it was one of three to land in Melbourne in 2015. One was for promotion, and another was imported and later sold abroad.
Other spots:

The holy grail of car spotting in Melbourne: Australia’s sole McLaren F1, valued at upwards of $10 million, spotted travelling on Alexandra Parade this morning! Today saw no shortage of rare supercars getting around Melbourne, but this takes the cake! A huge thanks to @nsparky for the epic spot! Would you rather spot this, or Melbourne’s resident Bugatti Veyron of which there is also only one in Australia.

THREE.

It's always a pleasure when Australia's sole McLaren F1 comes out to play, and this spot, coming in at number 3, was no exception!
With an estimated value of between $15 and $20 million, it's great to see it hitting the roads from time to time! The photo was taken on a busy Alexandra Parade on July 5th.
Several of the owner's cars have featured on Melbourne Car Spotters this year, including most recently a Porsche 959, and even a CLA 45 AMG. Others include a Murciélago SV and an SL65 AMG Black Series. His most recent addition is one of the aforementioned Jaguar XJR-15s.
Other spots:

These two privately owned goodies did a couple of laps around the beautiful Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit yesterday! Both reside in Victoria, and both have been spotted driving on public roads before! The Bugatti Veyron was first spotted in March on the Peninsula Link, while the P1 was first sighted in early October on Nepean Highway, Mornington. Which would you get behind the wheel of? A huge thanks to @fraser_ross for the phenomenal photo!

TWO.

Few people knew about a privately owned McLaren P1 in Melbourne, but when it attended a private track day at Phillip Island in December, the word was out! Number 2.
Early one quiet, October morning, it was spotted driving in Mornington and sent in to MCS - unfortunately, the quality of the Snapchat was sub-MCS standard, so it was never posted. In the meantime, we quietly hoped and prayed that a better photo would turn up. It did, although perhaps not in the form we would have liked. "Road-spots" are always preferred over "track-spots", and this time both the Bugatti Veyron and the P1 were transported to the track in a closed truck.
Other spots:

Easily one of, if not the biggest post on MCS to date! This is a video of Australia’s sole Bugatti Veyron driving on the Mornington Peninsula Freeway this morning. A huge thanks to @jackmacdonald1994 for sending it in! It was later spotted on the Peninsula Link by @lukepiggott97 pulled over by police, likely on account of the fact that it is LHD, although it is on trade plates. The car was imported through a company in Sydney late last year and last spotted covered on the back of a truck in the Domain Tunnel, but to see it on the roads is huge news! This is hopefully the first post of many to come.

ONE.

This will come as no surprise to many. At number 1, the post that blew away the Melbourne car community! MCS was proud to break the news of a Bugatti Veyron in Melbourne with an incredible exclusive video of it being driven on the Mornington Peninsula Freeway on March 9th! It quickly went viral across several platforms of social media.
With a current total of 874, it's the most commented-on post in Melbourne Car Spotter's history, eclipsing second with a margin of 363 (everyone loves a broken-down Aventador)!
Other spots:

There you have it, the top ten spots of 2015. I think you'll agree, it was a huge year for MCS and the Melbourne automotive scene as a whole! It will be hard to top next year, but we can't wait to see what's in store for 2016. It must be high time for a Pagani Huayura to debut in Australia... Maybe a Porsche 918 Spyder, or another LaFerrari? A Koenigsegg would be nice - perhaps we are asking too much...
Let us know what your favourite moment of 2015 was in the comments below, and what you hope to see in 2016. Happy New Year!
