A look back on what was undoubtedly the most eventful year on MCS! Melbourne really turned it up in 2015. Read on to see which spots were the most engaging of the year, counting down to number 1.
TEN.
To kick it off at number 10, we have the much anticipated new Porsche 911 GT3 RS spotted on King Street in the CBD. Finished in Lava Orange, this was the first one to reach Melbourne. To date, only two have been delivered.
If you can look at this photo without drooling, you have very strong self control. We can't wait to see more of them in 2016!

There's something special about the Lexus LFA, but what makes post number 9 even more special is the hardly-visible Jaguar XJR-15 next to it!
Both cars are owned by avid car collector, Lindsay Fox. Two other XJR-15s were imported to Melbourne in 2015 and restored, making it three in Australia! A very impressive number for such a rare car. The LFA has an incredible Yamaha-developed 4.8L V10, and with so few in town, posting one is a rare moment to be savoured.

EIGHT.
The Lamborghini Aventador was always a favourite among MCS-followers, so it was no surprise that the much-anticipated SV went off with a hit!
It was this time spotted on Flinders Street from Federation Square by Jasmine Abel. The photo remains the equal third most popular post on MCS. Shoutout to the bloke trying to take a photo in the 86 next to it!

SEVEN.
Everyone loves the F40, and this one proved favourable among MCS-followers. Number 7.
As I think most realise, MCS takes as much pride in its high standard of photo quality as it does photo content. This photo is the best of both worlds. Few cars make better subject matter than the F40, and this photo captures it beautifully, the F40 somewhat juxtaposed in the heart of Toorak.

SIX.
Sent in by a very lucky owner, number 6 shows two near-identical Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 Coupes on Little Bourke Street. Even their license plates share the same theme - jets upon which the Aventador's design was based.
It was a coincidental pair-up and made for the perfect photo opportunity. A very rare moment indeed. To date, it's drawn more likes than any other MCS post with a toal of 4,057! Just one other photo has cracked the 4k milestone at 4,001. Can you believe that out of the top 50 most-liked photos on MCS, 39 (almost 80%) of them are Lamborghinis, 27 of which being Aventadors! By comparison, just six are Ferraris... |
FIVE.
Number 5 came out of nowhere! The magnificent Porsche Carrera GT was spotted on High Street, Northcote.
It had been purchased from McLaren in Beverly Hills. It is therefore US spec, hence the indicator lenses on the quarter panels. The owner has quite an impressive collection, and reportedly has a LaFerrari on his wish-list. Later in the year, another CGT arrived, also in silver. It was imported from Europe.

FOUR.
It was a huge surprise to have a Ferrari LaFerrari spotted driving on public roads, if for only a hundred metres! This LaFerrari, making it in at number 4, was in town for the 2015 Australian Grand Prix. It otherwise lives in New Zealand where it can legally be driven.
On March 24th, it was spotted leaving the showroom on Swan Street and driving around the corner to be loaded onto a truck. Its next destination was the Australian Motoring Festival at the Melbourne Showgrounds where it was displayed alongside an Enzo, F50, F40 and a 288 GTO. Believe it or not, it was one of three to land in Melbourne in 2015. One was for promotion, and another was imported and later sold abroad.

THREE.
It's always a pleasure when Australia's sole McLaren F1 comes out to play, and this spot, coming in at number 3, was no exception!
With an estimated value of between $15 and $20 million, it's great to see it hitting the roads from time to time! The photo was taken on a busy Alexandra Parade on July 5th. Several of the owner's cars have featured on Melbourne Car Spotters this year, including most recently a Porsche 959, and even a CLA 45 AMG. Others include a Murciélago SV and an SL65 AMG Black Series. His most recent addition is one of the aforementioned Jaguar XJR-15s.

TWO.
Few people knew about a privately owned McLaren P1 in Melbourne, but when it attended a private track day at Phillip Island in December, the word was out! Number 2.
Early one quiet, October morning, it was spotted driving in Mornington and sent in to MCS - unfortunately, the quality of the Snapchat was sub-MCS standard, so it was never posted. In the meantime, we quietly hoped and prayed that a better photo would turn up. It did, although perhaps not in the form we would have liked. "Road-spots" are always preferred over "track-spots", and this time both the Bugatti Veyron and the P1 were transported to the track in a closed truck.

This will come as no surprise to many. At number 1, the post that blew away the Melbourne car community! MCS was proud to break the news of a Bugatti Veyron in Melbourne with an incredible exclusive video of it being driven on the Mornington Peninsula Freeway on March 9th! It quickly went viral across several platforms of social media.
With a current total of 874, it's the most commented-on post in Melbourne Car Spotter's history, eclipsing second with a margin of 363 (everyone loves a broken-down Aventador)!

There you have it, the top ten spots of 2015. I think you'll agree, it was a huge year for MCS and the Melbourne automotive scene as a whole! It will be hard to top next year, but we can't wait to see what's in store for 2016. It must be high time for a Pagani Huayura to debut in Australia... Maybe a Porsche 918 Spyder, or another LaFerrari? A Koenigsegg would be nice - perhaps we are asking too much...
